The implications are - where does AMD get the manpower and expertise to pull this off - when they have additional CPUS - BarfON, AppaLooseLips, PaloMeatHEad, etc. which themselves keep slipping their schedules?

Elmer, RE: Debugging silicon. You can't simulate everything and the completely new chipsets/buss architecture needs real live processor silicon at least as badly as the core. AMD is taking the ultimate risk, new CPU architecture, new buss architecture, new chipset silicon and new process Probably the reasn why Itanium took almost 2 years to get to production! At least Itanium had software vendors lined up. Who has lined up to support Hammer? Do you remember Sanders plea about a 2 years ago to develop software for Hammer? Still no takers. Mula
