FYI, Merced taped out on .18u, a few months *after* coppermine (.18u) tapeout. CuMine was the first .18u microprocessor.

The time gap is wider than that if you are talking about first tapeouts, a.k.a. A0 silicon. I think Coppermine first taped out at the end of 1998 or very early 1999, while Merced first taped out in July.
