Well, IMO, it has to do with the role change that women have had to endure. NOT IN ALL CASES, but I bet you can look and in MANY cases, that taking the woman from the role of "caregiver" to caregiver, breadwinner, cook, etc. etc. have strained many to the point of making a very real thing such as post partum depression just more accelerated.

Again, IMO, men have still not made as big a role switch as women, or maybe it is just a plain fact that men do not get as stressed as women. Have you seen the rates of women having heart attacks, they are WAY up.
