Nova Measuring sees Q2 shortfall, trims
workforce

NEW YORK, July 3 (Reuters) - Israel's Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd.
(NasdaqNM:NVMI - news) said on Tuesday it expects significantly lower
revenues in the second quarter and a wider-than-expected loss due to a sharp reduction in spending in the
semiconductor industry.

Nova Measuring, which makes optical systems that measure the thickness of semiconductors, said it
expects this negative trend in the industry to continue throughout the remainder of the year and that
revenues will remain at similar level.

In addition, the company said it is continuing its efforts to adjust and control costs, and will cut its work
force by about 15 percent as a result. Also, the company plans to cut employee salaries by 10 percent,
while management salaries are expected to be trimmed by 15 percent.

The company has also instituted a day-a-week mandatory shut-down effort until the end of August,
during which it expects about 50 percent of employees show up voluntarily.

Shares of Nova Measuring closed at $5.90 on the Nasdaq stock exchange on Monday.
