Dont worry, Now all the grocery chains will slowly jump on the concept providing the service locally. Eventually someone will startup another comapny with a similiar idea claiming how brilliant they were for innovating such a service.

Unfortunately webvan was ahead of its time. The demographics will prove over time (as the population ages) more folks will want a service like this. And as web services become as common as your TV and phone. Established brick and mortars will now jump on the web with services and as the younger population becomes our work force and management, using the web for things like this wont be such an oddity.

Safeway, Alberstons and Kroger are all online and moving toward home delivery. It wont be as robust as webvan (that will take them awhile) and they wont have as extensive delivery services, but they will start doing this. Unfortunately the big guys wont deliver to as many rural areas as webvan.

This truly saddens me...and it's NOT because I own WBVN stock. The service was invaluable to me and many of my friends.

I couldn't agree more. I NEED my WEBVAN!!

Maybe not NEED, but with two kids (3 and 2 months), I need all the help I can get!

WEBVAN will truly be missed in our household. Just told my wife, she was really saddened .... especially since we were expecting a BIG order this morning.

bye, bye to a wonderful service!!
