You just don't want to admit that cars are registered because it works to cut down crime. How many more hit and runs would we have if cars had no license number and records of ownership weren't kept anyway? Before you sprain yourself, it's more than you can count on your fingers. There is plenty of reason to think that tracable guns would make the owners think twice about misplacing or abusing their weapons.
