I am wondering if any CDMA carriers would be ordering non 1x products right now. Even though Nokia is a minor player, they must be faced with customer demand that they cannot deliver. In fact, they are not even close.

So the next most logical event would be a big chip order from Nokia? How about sampling some of these 5500s?

If Nokia wants to sell some handsets to VZ for the Christmas season, wouldn't they have to be ordering some Q chips very soon? Do they have any other alternatives?

What's interesting Benjamin is 3GPP won't let the CDG in, because some of their members don't think the CDG web site promotes W-CDMA hard enough, yet Nokia is a full and voting member of CDG and 3GPP2 and does nothing but talk trash about the technology. It has often be remarked that Nokia tries to sell its CDMA phones to CDMA carriers at the trade shows while at the same time they denigrate CDMA every chance they get. But you know that if Nokia was asked to leave either organization they would howl how unfair it was and it would be taken as proof that 3GPP2 or CDG wasn't an open organization. Nokia is a serpent in our nest. They slow up the 3GPP2 standards effort and they probably won't promote the final product anyway.
