Your article bring to mind something I saw in Florida recently. There was a place on Cape San Blas where the palms and pines were dead because of higher salt water in the area. I asked if the Gulf was getting deeper thinking global warming. The reply was a hurricane had shifted the sand bars forcing the current into the area and raising the water 2'. 1/2 mile away it was 2' lower than it had been.

No, I am not familiar with SHISHMAREF. It's about 1200 miles from where I am. Clearly, sea ice is diminishing. I think Senator Stevens is right, that it is the result of cyclical ocean currents. Time will tell.
