They warned for the full year, but not by much: Newport Corp (NEWP) 24.05 +0.37: Company reaffirms earnings and revenue expectations for Q2. Sees EPS of $0.32 and revenues of $95-$100 mln vs consensus of $0.32 and $93.3 mln. For the full yr, company sees EPS of $1.10-$1.15 and revenues of $350-$360 mln (consensus estimates $1.22 and $358 mln). NEWP says concerned about the steep decline in new orders received, especially in the fiber optic communications biz; does not anticipate any meaningful recovery in customer order patterns through the 2nd-half. NEWP plans to reduce workforce by about 10%.
