I live in Condit's district. The local Dem's have nobody to put up for his seat. Both CA Senators are dem's (Boxer and Feinstein) are in solid. Condit expected to good for another 10 or more years. He was expecting to be a real dem bigshot someday. If he was to resign now and cause a special election, a Republican would have the best chance in 25 yrs or more in this district. It's always been a throwaway district for Republicans. Their candidate gets to practice campaigning for the future without the pressure of someone expecting him to win. If there is a special election for Condit's seat, I will predict a winner: Dennis Cardoza, currently a demo in the State Legislature. He has been instrumental in getting the next U.C. campus here (could be as much as a $billion dollars add to the local economy during the next 5-6 years plus the ongoing after that) and is very good at keeping on top of agricultural issues. I'd still vote for a Republican unless he turned out to be the real killer that O.J.'s been searching for. Chas·notmuchhopeforarepubfromthisdistrict

I would bet if they pulled his cell phone records they would find he called her from downstairs to tell her he just wanted to say goodbye. That would have been why everything was left in her room. She unexpectedly went for a ride with him, never to return. Then the audacity of him to threaten a lawsuit for defamation when the press was accusing him of an affair with her. I hope they hang him by the balls. I am so surprised Slick Willy hasn't come to his defense.
