You hit it on the head, Patricia. As soon as Bush-Cheney realized that they'd made a big boo-boo in their arrogance and lost the Senate they had to face the reality that they could now be investigated and there's been a cover-up going ever since, gradually moderating his stances and lowered prices (through their friends who control the energy business). But the prices are still way too high and they want them high. Murkcowski of Alaska (R Bush crony) was recently quoted as saying "Prices are not high enough yet!" What he means is not that they haven't ripped us off for enough yet (they have and continue to)n but that all his rape of the environment programs can't get through a moderate senate unless gas is $3 a gallon and we're all terrified of some phony shortage. It is SO cynical and SO dishonest and SUCH a highway robbery of not only Americans but everyone in the world that I will be surprised if Bush/Cheney aren't under impeachment danger after the 2002 elections give the Congress back to the other side. But by then maybe 2 trillion dollars gouged worldwide? The biggest crime of the century.
