Had a look around the ECRI site..interesting. Of course we are trying to put some fine resolution on that turn data, and those experts spell out that is difficult to do without a large margin of error.

So, I just have news items and traders views to go by.

The knock on effect of these type of facts is going to adversely effect stocks. There is invisible data out there and the official statistics lag what is really going on.

Some other views.

I am suspicious of this type of view, though it may well be right. Its just that news for public consumption rarely gives an accurate forecast for whatever reasons.

But... if I may shamelessly filch a recent view from Michail Shadkin

Word of caution for all shorts:
It is very possible that we could see a repeat of April's earnings season. Tons of companies have warned and have low balled their estimates. Now in their earnings reports, these same companies might be beating the numbers by 1-2 cents and moving higher. Make sure you are well prepared for such a scenario. If this does happen, the media will be very fast to jump all over this and call it a summer rally.

That about sums up my current view on the overall market.

So, on the long side, I may buy some calls on opportunities from this link over the next few weeks/months.

So...what may get touted as being part of the "improving picture for the recovery" -g-
