Paul,

AMD said they shipped "in the aggregate" record volumes of AthWipers and DooWrongs - which could mean as little as 1 more CPU than the shipped in Q1.

If Intel's CPU shipments in Q2 were up by even a small amount (let's say 1,000 units more than Q1), Intel could still have increased market share over AMD in Q2.

Agreed with the premise.

I am pretty confident that AMD will provide the investment community with all the necessary info. Chances of Intel being forthright are close NIL, but we may be able to determine the movement in market share even from (mis) information in the binary form - "record / not a record" that Intel does provide.

If Intel says revenues were up, we will have to wait for some of the market research firms to give you, the Intel investors a hint if your company kept / gained or lost market share.

(Actually, when I say "you Intel shareholders", I should really say "we Intel shareholders". The other day, when I was investigating why one of the funds in my wife's 401k keeps tanking, I found out that we are Intel shareholders as well)

Anyway, If intel says units were approximately flat or down, we may get the answer to this question soon - within next 2 weeks.

Joe
