Have you read "Founding Brothers" by James Ellis. A fascinating study on how the Constitution and our country came to be. Haven't read that one. I tend to drift towards copies or compilations of the original letters, essays, etc.. While an author's interpretation of what happened can be quite interesting, I have found that I appreciate the Framers more when I can read something like the exchange of letters between Madison and Jefferson on the Constitution. 1800s writing style is a small barrier at first, but once that's passed, it's a real joy.
