Since the days of the cave people, we have been social animals. We have lived in groups, and survived as groups where we would never have survived alone.

If you want to pretend that you're an island, and sit around stroking your tender bits and proclaiming your superiority, go right ahead. We don't particularly care, as long as you don't bother anybody. But we will have a lot more fun than you, and we will be more productive as well.

We. In Steven's context, Peoples throughout the world, in more or less representative forms, throughout history. The we is generic, general and variable - the 'we' of ancient Sumeria is not the same 'we' of the NE US, for example, and equally the rules, laws and beliefs were/are not the same.

It isn't really that confusing. Work at it.
