Bush Sr. was beaten because he gave us recession. Remember "it's the economy stupid"? He also had Dan Quayle dragging down the ticket right-wingers doidn't like his "read my lips wimpishness" compared to Reagan. The energy gouging took the prosperity issue away from Gore (or Gore let it) and it was 100% engineered and intentional. Very clever and very dishonest. But maybe you're right. Maybe the Dems will push the issue earlier than I guessed. Start the investigations in the fall maybe. They're already beginning here in California where the battle royale begins. Gray Davis is getting very popular again so that's not good news for Bush and Company.
