And so your hatred against Bush continues. You make-up charges against Bush/ Oil cartel over high prices, even though energy price trends over the past 4 years disprove that charge.YET you willingly voted for $5/ Gallon Al Gore. You are an enigma.

Just filled my tank @ $1.09, thank you President Bush. Filled it with pollution fighting 10% ethanol, the stuff that Mrs. Brolin and other people of California say they can't afford.

I have a friend I meet for breakfast once a week. He hates Bush. On Monday he said he's the worst president we've ever had. So I asked him why.

His first response was the tax cut taking and the government now not being able to pay down the debt. My response was one the government can't hoard a surplus. One, it would kill the economy and really cut into tax receipts. Two, the politicians (doesn't matter whether democrats or republicans) would just increse spending. Do you really want the inefficient government deciding how to spend our money? He said yes. My only response was if he really felt strongly about this he should start a campaign to not cash the check and return the funds and he should start by setting the example.

He didn't respond to that one but then said his policies have wrecked the economy? I politely pointed out I mentioned last summer he should want a Republican in the White House since this year and next the economy and market would tank no matter who President but the President would be blamed?

He than started on the environment and arsenic in the water. I really didn't have a response for this one since I don't drink arsenic but I did ask how bad is the problem and how much will it cost to fix. He didn't know.

Then he started blaming him for the high oil prices and pointing out how they are coming down now. Well I didn't have time to educate him on supply and demand, the market economy, limited drilling when oil was so low, no new domestic refining and the slowing world economy with foreign refiners now shipping here.

He then went on how he stole the election. I laughed and said yea I remember Carvel running on this listening to IMUS one morning. I politely pointed out he originally said once ALL the vote were counted in Florida Gore would win. We'll we finally did have an independent count so now he's switching to the tack he didn't win the majority. I had to agree with him on this one but unfortunately its the electoral college majority which governs not the majority of the people.

Of course Charlie then said it was the supreme court which won it. I laughed again and asked how can you say that? I asked wasn't it true if VP Gore had won his home state wouldn't he have won. He actually grumbled Gore wasn't such a good candidate. I was surprised @ this comment.

Now you seem as radical in this as he is. We'll there are two sides to each position (at least) and you may want to try and see the other side.

On faith based initiatives I'm not up to speed. All I can say here is I've audited numerous government programs and the agencies running the programs are not the most efficient. Non profit chuch organizations could do very well. I'm saying this from what I've seen our church do with volunteer and charitable donations.

On star wars. We'll I'm not saying we need to go down this route but the US needs a stong defense. As for you comments of it doens't work we'll what does at the beginning. Still not saying its justified but better than some other pet government programs.

Environment - I'm assuming you mean the Alaska drilling (or arsenic in water??)? We'll let me ask you how many 1M barrle / day oil wells are running now vs 30 years ago. 1 now in Saudi Ariba vs. 17 when the 1st oil crisis struck. Even the new large find off of Africa is only supposed to be 200k bbl/day. You'll jump on this one but Cheney was right conservation is not the short term / long term answer. When you consider how much our GDP has grown vs our oil usage we have done a good job of conserving.

Anyway enough on this. If you disagree remember you can protest Bush by giving back your portion of the tax cut.
