The Washington Post and NY Times have thanked me for this. Two of their reporters who say they're going to look into this. I have also sent this to everyone on the Dem-Indie side of the Senate as well as to other newspaper reporters.

It truly is bigger than Watergate.

"It is any accident that the entire energy "crisis" (power, gasoline, natural gas price spikes and "shortages") began at the height of the presidential election which was in a virtual tie? Gore had the prosperity issue and more he could use but the sudden energy crisis took that away. It also has given the Energy Cartel (let's call them that, based in Texas) huge windfalls profits and still
is, not just in California or the US but globally. Every one of these energy companies is a close inner-circle crony of Bush/Cheney. Cheney himself is an energy CEO as is James Baker. Cheney/Bush Sr./Powell were the ones who rescued
Arabia and Kuwait from Saddam so in that part of the world a big-time favor could be called in there. Cheney/Abraham now call for 1700 new power plants. Murckowski of Alaska (Bush crony and oil company mouthpiece) was quoted recently
as saying "Prices aren't high enough yet!" (to force unpopular drilling and pollution deregulations on the public).

All in all when you put together Bush-Bush Sr.-Cheney-Baker-Enron-Williams-Duke-El Paso-Bectel-Brown+Root with the Saudis, the enormous amount of soft money to the Republicans and their desire to get revenge on Davis and the Californian economy for backing Democrats so strongly
you have smoke pouring out of a hole where there must be fire below.

My parents live in high-society Houston and they have heard cocktail chatter about how "we screwed California" and how people they know were in on the plan. Sometimes you learn a lot from cocktail chatter.

In my opinion this was all an organized, secret, collusionary artificial energy shortage-crisis October Surprise resulting in Bush as President even though
fewer people wanted him than Gore, an enormous global price gouging (and doubled against California) in order to transfer huge amounts of wealth and power to the
Bush circle of friends. Bush himself is more of a front man but Cheney certainly could have engineered such a thing. Even Powell would go along with it (he is suddenly worth $50,000,000 after leaving the military 8 years ago) and
Condaleeza Rice (on the board of Chevron with a tanker named after her). Alcoa whose CEO is now head of Treasury was also bartering energy and making windfall profits on that. The list goes on and on. Only Jeffords move has slowed them down. Because now they know the Senate could investigate. SO DO IT PLEASE!

Let's look at natural gas prices. It cost me $2 a year ago a month to keep my pilot light burning without using any gas. Last month that bill was $10. That's still a 500% hike and there is NO SHORTAGE anymore. So where does the money go?

Add all this up and it not only sends any tax cuts savings (federal money really, and our surplus) into the energy cartel's pockets but it picks the pockets of every person and every company in the world. It also enriches your
political opponents and damages democracy. Remember Bush told us during the campaign that his experience in energy matters would mean he could best solve these "problems"? Yes, problems of their own making.

This is the biggest crime of the century, much bigger than the S+L debacle or Watergate and is going on as we speak. It is literally a coup d'etat (because it stole the election) and now it is a mass looting of public and private money which goes far beyond any savings from tax-cuts. Figure a trillion a year maybe globally. Nice investment for the energy business which gave Bush and
Republicans something like 100 million last year. Has there ever been organized corruption like this on such a grand scale? And no wonder they hate McCain with his Campaign Finance Reform. Please LET'S STOP THIS.

My Name
Just a Citizen Not Working For Anyone"

PS - If there are enough patriotic Paul Rveres out there we can stop this thievery and corruption at its source. But complacency is part of the problem.

NEW YORK, July 10 — President Bush welcomed 29 newly sworn-in citizens to America Tuesday, looking on as they took the oath on Ellis Island. He pledged to accelerate the immigration process and promised a welcoming spirit for all new arrivals. “Immigration is not a problem to be solved, it is a sign of a confident and successful nation,” Bush said at the ceremony. “New arrivals should be greeted not with suspicion and resentment, but with openness and courtesy.”....HOW MANY OF YOU RIGHTWINGERS AGREE WITH YOUR LEADER?
