OT- a couple of weeks ago, we went up to Lake Eklutna, just outside of Anchorage. It's a long, S-shaped lake, with mountains on either side, a campground at one end, and a glacier at the far end. With a 5, 7, and 9-year-old, I don't feel comfortable sea kayaking any more, or river running. By the time the littlest is 8, I can start doing that again, but in the meantime we do the easy scenic paddles. I've lived in Anchorage 2 years now, and we still haven't done all the hikes, bike paths, and paddling within 3 hours of home.
