The momo crowd does. The longs are all about greed, momentum, and cannot forget the days of old; gamblers on their last few chips hoping for a return to glory. If they knew anything about investing, the first thing they would ask themselves is " how does this company's earnings or prospects (with the latter being the hook that Wall Street uses to create this speculative fever) compare to the risk-free rate of return from a government bond. By that standard, the market would have to go down 30% to compensate for the risk of owning a company. In the old days companies paid dividends; that I understand. Not grumbling, for therein lies the profit for the prudent short.
