But, even assuming the OEM's had complete control over what was displayed at CC, why would they put in (as you presume)slower selling Intel units rather than faster selling AMD units? Where is the economic benefit?

The only reason I can think of was all ready posted here. That the OEMs where trying to dump unsold inventory of PCs with Intel processors. It probably would not even be a cash payout for display space but rather even better deals on systems then the reatilers are all ready getting. If the retailers get such a great deal then they might buy more and then since they have more Intel systems they would give these systems more shelf space. I'm not saying that these senario necessarily has anything to do with reality, just saying it is possible.

Now you are really getting paranoid.
In the real (non-AMD fantasy) world, a deal like that would have to be approved by the top executives at CC. And it would have to make very clear long term economic sense.

Hold on Jack. I told you (TWICE) in two different posts that I thought the deal was between Intel and the OEMs... not Intel and CC.. Yet, YOU continue to spew this Intel/CC crap. Who's the paranoid one here???

But, even assuming the OEM's had complete control over what was displayed at CC, why would they put in (as you presume)slower selling Intel units rather than faster selling AMD units? Where is the economic benefit?

The OEMs send a disproportionate number of Intel systems vs. AMD systems because they are compensated by Intel to do so. That is the economic benefit. Get the concept?
I don't think the OEM's have complete control over what is displayed. But, from talking to the salesman, apparently the control is much more than one would guess. I was also surprised. Now, some people have claimed the possibility
of CC displaying nearly all Intel systems to clear out an excess inventory of slower selling items. If that is the case, I would expect the situation to revert to a more normal distribution sometime in the near future. We'll see. One thing for sure. If it is not displayed, it doesn't sell in those stores. The salesman claim only 5% to 10% of the people go the "Build Your Own" route where they customize the system they want. They claim most of those go with AMD systems. The average consumer simply is left with a much reduced choice of systems. The question is ....why now when
very extensive choices were available in the past???
