I think you are confusing a consumer product segmentation
(Aerostar, Escort, Focus, Mustang) with a component
segmentation. To built a car, only two kind of
bolts and nuts are employed - SAE and metric,
in various sizes (128MB, 256MB, etc. :) :)). There is
no compelling reason to invent nuts/bolts with
some other "hexadecimal" thread size.
