Kholt - First of all....Nice to see you and Welcome to the thread :-)! Now..onto the meat. While I agree with the basis of your stagflation / inflation views, I think greenspan missed by a country mile. Raising rates during an already existing energy crunch was STUPID! It's the last hike that really smokes me. In terms of SS - Although Roosevelt created SS with the new deal it was largely destroyed because Democrats of the 60's (sorry folks) decide to hang a bunch of bells and whistles off it that turned it into yet another failed liberal social program. The transition will cost money! It will cost money we will never see again but it beats the hell out of continuing down this road filled with smoke and mirrors.
