Rarebird - Why would NVTL promise to produce a modem that runs faster than the underlying network? Perhaps this is the case, but it is hard to believe. Was there a press release issued? If not, where did you learn of this promise? Perhaps it is easy to fault Novatel for not forseeing the problems that MCOM would encounter but if you are going to do so then please include Worldcom and Paul Allen's Vulcan Ventures among the duped. Worldcom's exposure to MCOM is something like $300 million, I do not know offhand how much Vulcan invested. What was the first product offered by Omnisky? A Minstrel V. YadaYada? A Minstrel V. To say that NVTL "ignored" the Palm market is just wrong. Also, how is it that SprintPCS automagically wins if NVTL goes under? I'm not following that one. Sierra Wireless possibly, but SprintPCS? Certainly many, many people have not correctly forseen how exactly the wireless landscape would develop. That "myopia" is hardly unique to NVTL.
