Estecat = Stock that opens less than 30% lower than previous day's close, but ends day of gap 30% or more.
As to be distinguished from a
quasi-cat = Stocks that don't gap quite 30% but are behaving felinically regardless, and
Honorary Cat = Well-known large cap that gaps significantly less than 30% but deserves monitoring simply by virtue of its turnaround potential, and (or so one thought in early 2000) its potential long-term safety if you should happen to get caught in it. That, of course, was before cats like LU, which cost me three years of profits while I sat waiting for the "inevitable turnaround," losing 70% before I finally woke up one day and realized the market had changed.
