But we've had this debate and both sides have good, honest opinions. We could very well have reached the zenith of where mainstream PCs will ever go and SDRAM can stick around forever if that is the case; on the other hand, and it is my belief, that this is not the case. We are just in a lull.

I agree with you. The HW has gotten ahead of the SW at this point. Some "killer app" will come along shortly (don't anyone ask me what it is because if I knew I wouldn't tell you -- I'd go get funding to get it built and marketed <G>). I can't imagine that state-of-the-art in 2010 will be a 2Ghz P4. And I can't even imagine what the technology will look like in 2025.
