Tim, that's just the point. A developed and consistent belief is one thing. I have plenty of developed and consistent beliefs formed over time by evidence and arguments. That's different, by definition, from ABSOLUTE truth.

Karen, if by absolute truth you mean a belief that you are unwilling to reexamine under any circumstances then I agree with you but I was using the phrase "an opinion that something is absolutely true", I meant 1 - something you are certain about or as certain as you are about anything, and 2 - Something you believe is objectively true not just "true for me", or "true in this context" but I did not mean a belief that you are not willing to reexamine or listen to arguments against. I believe in is absolutely true that Stalin and Hitler were responsible for evil actions. That doesn't mean if you come up an amazing argument to the contrary or if you come up with evidence that one or other other was just a puppet of someone who was controlling their mind that I would be unprepared to listen to it. Perhaps this is just about the semantics of the term "absolute truth".
