Re: INDIA & Silver-

Interestingly today a relative of mine in the jewellery business requested me to contact a couple of refiners/bullion dealers here in London U.K.

I was told that owing to relaxed import regulations in India several parties have been increasingly IMPORTING Silver (& gold) from London. The enquiry received today from one party is for supply of 20 metric tonnes of 99.9% Ag on a "regular" basis!

So, I infer, even though India may be a store house of plenty Silver, there seems to be great demand still which cannot be met by local supplies. And why can't the Indian traders buy locally from their domestic market if there is such a glut of silver there!? Probably it's mostly worn or used up in other applications? Perhaps they need more to fulfill demand..for domestic supply and re-export of finished goods (jewellery).

Just passing on some info. which i thought was interesting... which may or may not mean much.
