I tend to agree that there's no need for a law specifically banning cell phone use in an automobile. My only point was that it's wrong to dismiss the possibility that some peoples' use of a cell phone while driving is hazardous, just like lots of other silly behaviors. It's not just like shifting a transmission (unless you look at the stick while you do it). The law ought to make it illegal to drive at any time and in any manner without paying attention to the road. I think it already does that.
