Australia, and if I'm not mistaken, Canada has what they call a superannuation plan.

Its like an IRA and Social Security plan rolled into one.

Social security is still provided, but it doesn't come out as a SS tax or deducatble. The contributors only get a Superannuation deductable...which is locked till age 55.

Reforms are sweeping countries fast. US just has to join the gang.

That was an awesome post you did last night. Unfortunately,, being a non voting resident alien, I'm not entitled to any of these 'perks', so am not very familiar with the SS and pension plan issues....
