I hate it that I wasn't able to help ...

mayhaps someone else can jump in here with some ideas ...
especially about the new freezeups ....

maybe ...
pull out the old mem stick and make sure it is seated properly when you put it back in ...

of course,
IF you did remove it whilst the box was running, you could've caused some damage ...
hope not ....

Jt,
Check the connection for the CPU fan. It's easy to dislodge where it plugs into the motherboard and the CPU will freeze when it overheats.
