Nokia better deliver on GPRS. I think the chances are about 50-50 that it will. TI says that the GPRS DSPs will be available in commercial quantities in the Fall of this year. There is damn little leeway 'til Xmas season. Any glitch will blow Xmas for Nokia.

Yep, and if GPRS subscriber take-up starts looking like a Globalstar sales curve, then 2002 is pretty grim.

There's a bit of a lead time in the whole process of getting DSPs popped out of TI's fabs, and handsets into shops by mid-November, which is when they need to arrive in order for any holiday marketing campaigns to kick in.
