You are both, when you go back far enough to first principles of your thinking, starting with the same statement. "There is something I believe simply and purely because I believe it. I can't prove it, I can't know it, I can't show its truth scientifically, I can't produce any experiment that will prove it's true. I believe it's true purely and simply because that's what I believe."

That's just not true.

I believe what I believe because I've spent a good deal of time looking at and thinking about the history and evolution of human belief. I believe what I believe because it is the best explanation I can find for what I see in that history. I believe what I believe because I've thought about it - a lot - not because it happens to be written down in a book that somebody told me was written by people who said that God told them what to write.

You may not see a difference there. I do. If you don't, I really do feel sorry for you.
