TOKYO (CBS.MW) - Asian technology shares raced out of the gate Thursday after better-than-expected earnings from major U.S. tech companies rekindled hopes for a turnaround in that key sector.

Led by Seoul's 2.0 percent jump, virtually all of the key indexes posted gains by late morning after cell-phone giant Motorola (MOT: news, msgs, alerts) and Internet portal leader Yahoo (YHOO: news, msgs, alerts) posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings results. Software giant Microsoft (MSFT: news, msgs, alerts) also upgraded its revenues outlook.
