Coug, you're right - they are all heroes and heroines. I've often wondered about the people who fight those fires- it's an unbelievable job - and where would we be without them. Those giant fires are one of the most frightening things I've ever seen - even being way above one in a plane. The power and intenstiy are just unbelievable

WRT the fires, would you explain this phrase?

the weather turned cooler so the flash point is lower.

Does this mean that since the weather is now cooler, the heat at which a spark could ignite (and hence spread the fire) is lower?
