Let's not forget the 3% drop in revenue. That GE sure is a stunning growth story.

True but as Paul Harvey would say, here is the rest of the story as we read between the lines.....

General Electric (GE) 44.61: Reports Q2 earnings of $0.39 a share, in line with the First Call consensus, vs year-ago earnings of $0.34; revenues fell 2.7% to $31.98 bln from a year-ago of $32.86 bln; company's long-cycle businesses continue to achieve record results and grew operating profit 30%; GE Capital Services had a strong quarter with earnings up 16%; says short-cycle businesses, continuing to feel the impact of the U.S. economic slowdown, reported operating profit down 11% for quarter; expects EPS for the year to be greater than $1.45 (First Call consensus $1.47).

Also don't forget that Jack Welch will likely retire now that the HON deal fell through.

As I said before I am long right now so I am not that bearish but I am trying to keep reality in mind and it isn't pretty.

MOT just reported it's first loss in 15 years and prewarned this morning that next quarter will also be negative.

What makes a market is some thinking the glass is half full and some thinking the glass is half empty. Of course when teh glass is being drained as it is now and next quarter's discussion will be weither the glass is 1/4 full or 3/4 empty, I have a hard time trying to understand why people are paying for a glass that is running over the top. -gggg-

Good Luck,

Lee
