"Have you ever been there? (Berkeley)"

Been there a bunch of times. Used to be a pretty cool place, but dangerous and dirty now. Very dirty. About 15 years ago I went there with some female friends. They were accosted on Telegraph by a gang of 8 to 13 year olds (a pack of 30 or so) that were grabbing their crotches and going WAY past youthful fun. Did a little verbal sparring with them about just how uncool they were behaving. Quite a few jumped in the back of my truck as we were leaving so I thought I would give them a ride to the burbs. When I saw them jumping out I figured the best thing was to let them go at that point so I pulled over. They replied by throwing dog shit at my truck. Now there are almost regular protests where the merchant's shops are vandalized and looted by these fine citizens. This city (and San Francisco) are the two best examples of where liberal politics lead imo.

Not to say there are not some nice areas and restaurants, and obviously UC Berkeley is a fine school. But the town in general is an absolute, dirty pos imo.
