Yes, he's so honest he failed to tell his children about his drinking problems, and has passed that baton on to them. When do you think the twins will have another drinking episode?

Barbara's "drinking episode" was that she tried to buy alcohol with a fake id.

Tim, it was more than trying to buy liquor illegally. She was trashed from the news account I read. And apparently its not the first time the twins have had problems in this area.

I think the majority of 19 year olds have had a drink and many of them have fake ids. It is illegal of course but I think it distorts the situation to call it a drinking episode. She didn't pass out or throw a drunken fit in public, or drive drunk.

Having said all that above, I agree..its real normal for people when they are still in their teens....the first time I got smashed is when I was 14. However, we now believe that the disease of alcoholism is passed down generationally. The actual symptoms like frequent drunkedness may skip generations but the disfunction that causes the disease is present in every generation. The only way to overcome the disease is to be aware that it exists in the family and take the steps necessary to defuse its triggers.

It does not sound like there has been much discussion of this subject in the Bush family. Forgetting politics for a moment, I believe that knowledge is power and that Bush has a responsibility to his daughters to help them get educated on the subject. Of course, there well may be another factor in play in this whole thing which I have pointed out before and that is that the twins are trying to get back at their father for whatever reason. Whatever is motivating these issues, I hope that their situation improves in the future.
