Juniper sees revenues flat in second half
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 12 (Reuters) - Network communications equipment maker Juniper Networks Inc. (NasdaqNM:JNPR - news) on Thursday projected revenues would remain flat from second- quarter levels on a quarterly basis in the second half of the year.

Chief Financial Officer Marcel Gani told analysts on a conference call that revenues for the current quarter would likely be flat from the $202.2 million recorded in the quarter ended June 30. Revenues for the full 2001 fiscal year would be between $940 million an $950 million, he said.

Juniper now expects third-quarter per-share earnings of 9 cents on a pro forma basis before charges and 10 cents per share in the fourth quarter, Gani said. It was the first time the company has detailed second-half forecasts.

The company, which competes against Cisco Systems Inc. in the market for Internet routers, expects gross margins to be over 60 percent in the near term, although business conditions remain difficult to forecast, Gani said.

Given Juniper's recorded revenue in the first half and its third-quarter forecast, the company's forecast would imply fourth-quarter revenues largely flat from the level of the quarter just ended.
