Drbob512: So a technical rally is a rally that does not retrace a given move to 61.8%. If it goes beyond 61.8% is it a non technical rally? Do you have technical declines?

Technical analysis is based upon the concept that supply/demand factors in any timeframe longer than the short term, are too complex with too many different market participants to be able to be discernible or useful, and that the emphasis should be in evaluating the trend because trends tend to persist. The tape never lies, and the challenge is to discern what the market direction is. The gap below for many stocks is worrisome, because it will take a major follow-through to prevent them from filling in all likelihood.
