Dear M: Yep, I think most women who have borne children would absolutely say whatever was in the womb was human and ALIVE. Especially after they have had a KICK OR TWO. haha. However this embryo business is sort of a tough question at least in my mind. I have never really fully understood it. I think a fellow I heard last night on T/V may have it right. He said he was against it based upon PRINCIPLE. Once we start down that slippery slope, what comes next? On the other hand, if they are just going to dispose of these unused embryos, I have to admit, it seems like such a waste when it could be used for good. JDN

what were the two babies
When they were in your womb they were fetus. You quote me out of context and my point was that the fetus and even the newborns are not self aware. This means among other things that they don't recognize themselves in a mirror or retain a memory of "self" in later life. They were alive, but so is my pet cat, they were human cells, but so is the hair folicles on my brush. They were on their way to being "human".
