You are correct in one regards - during the period from late 1999 to May/June 2000, many OEMs used VIA chip sets with Pentiums - but these were targeted at the retail market.

The i815 became available to OEMS in May 2000 and hit the streets big time in June 200 - and that has been the main Inel Chip set - largely supplanting VIA's chip sets in the retail market - and of course - the COMMERCIAL market.
