The pivotal argument..

<Those companies providing the fuel for today's rally included the likes of Microsoft (MSFT +5.10), Motorola (MOT +2.48), Yahoo! (YHOO +1.23) and General Electric (GE +2.39)... In one way or another, each of these companies allayed fears that the economic, and earnings, slump might continue into next year....
While an argument can still be made that an earnings rebound won't materialize until next year, such an argument carried little weight today as investors emphasized the good news over the bad news-- the latter of which has prevailed for some time... Accordingly, the reasuring earnings news, and guidance, provided by the aforementioned companies ignited hope that the newscycle is due to change for the better...>
