That was an interesting perspective from another ill-informed journalist.

"The lure of a wired nation, with unlimited potential, led numerous companies to invest hundreds of billions in fiber optic capacity. The majority of that money appears to have been wasted."

Wasted? As in not being used? Thrown away?

I don't see any wasted fiber optic capacity. It is being put to very good use. The demand is there, and it is growing rapidly. Funny thing about information, the more you have the more you want. Knowledge is power. Isn't this what it is all about?

The Internet connects tens of millions of users that freely share that knowledge. Optical networking enables the Internet. A waste? Hardly. Not in my view.

I don't think I am alone.
