Again, the issue isn't, or shouldn't be, when LIFE begins. A mere "fertilized egg" is alive and genetically human. The sticky problem is what are rights, and when do we acquire them? THAT, IMHO, is the PARAMOUNT question which is NEVER asked let alone discussed in the popular discussion. If little green men from outer space announced themselves on the White House lawn, and were shown to be rational, autonomous beings, would they be considered to be rights holders, ie PERSONS? This little thought problem brings out my question, I hope. Is the issue genetic humanity, or a question of rights? Its wrong to kill the unborn. Why? Because it is genetically human? That is a weak and unconvincing moral argument. In any case, this is probably better discussed on Neocon's thread than here. Derek
