Fuji Heavy, 21 percent owned by GM, aims to use its partner's global procurement system to jointly purchase about 10 percent of parts in the current business year that began in April. That will increase to 30 percent in two to three years, it said. ``The company has not officially announced any figures, so it would be premature to put a number on how much this will come to,'' a spokesman said. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily said on Sunday that Fuji Heavy would jointly purchase about 50-60 billion yen ($400 million to $480 million) worth of parts this business year. The two companies have already been jointly purchasing about 10 items through GM's procurement system on a trial basis, the newspaper said. Japanese affiliates of GM, including Isuzu Motors Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corp, will also be looking to use the global system to reduce parts costs, the newspaper said. Isuzu aims to slash purchasing costs by 30 percent, it added. Isuzu and Suzuki could not be reached for immediate comment. Fuji Heavy shares were down 0.11 percent at 873 yen in early morning trade, in line with a slight fall in the benchmark Nikkei average . biz.yahoo.com
