Perhaps it depends on what you are arguing about?
If one is trying to argue that religion is logical, than reason appears to be the best tool- because we are arguing about logic.

If one is arguing that religion is "good" for humans, then logic or feelings could be used.

If one is arguing about one's own faith, then it seems to me, again, feelings or logic could be employed. But you would never have a meeting of the minds if one side was arguing from logic and the other from feelings- which is exactly what always happens here. And it makes it even more confusing when people who are really arguing their feelings try to say they are making a logical argument. The human comedy.
