JGoren, hopefully one day soon, you will see multi-standard chips from QCOM with GPRS and WCDMA inside. Let's skip the old, tired, war songs. NOK will soon be QCOMs best customer.

ps My laptop gets hot all the time when I use it (it has fan to control it) and the battery consumption is incredible - but it's not because of "high power output". All heat is not due to transmission of bits into the air.
Most 2.5G and 3G phones will typically receive many times more (non- voice) data bits than they will transmit. With 1G and 2G phones that's not the case of course. But who knows, maybe voice will be the killer app even in 3G for a while yet.
