If your saying that the cdma air interface is superior to the GSM A-interface, I'll buy that. I bought it a long time ago. If your saying that the 1xRTT air interface is superior to the GSM A-interface, with GPRS, I'll buy that. I bought it a long time ago, and for a while (21 months from January 1 forward) I thought that there was a real possibility that things would flop that way and GPRS would never see the light of day. For the first 6 to 9 months of that period there was a realistic possibility of that but the window closed and the path diverged. If your saying that the cdmaOne/cdma2000 approach to mobile IP is superior to 3GSM, I'll buy that. << Let me ask you this, which is the better technology? cdma2000 or WCDMA? >> I think I answered more or less that exact question for you about 2 months ago didn't I? My answer has not changed. Above aside, if your talking an end to end technology platform, there is simply no comparison yet. OHG and the carriers will eventually drive down the differential. << Which is more cost effective? >> For the majority of the worlds operators I tend to think that now that GPRS bearer service is reasonably well commercialized, that 3GSM is. For cdmaOne carriers using a ANS-41 core cdma2000 is. The great mind's on Ramsey's thread diligently do DD on the cdma side, which leaves me free to explore the dark side. - Eric -
