I love shooting my rifles
I too own rifles and pistols. I shoot with them, I hunt, I eat the stuff I kill if it looks appetising. I support gun control.

The NRA tries to make this an all or nothing proposal. It's not. I never felt like I was missing out because machine guns were regulated in the 1930s. I think they would be neat to try out, and for a steep fee I could rent one, but I really don't miss not having one in my closet.

The point is there can be sensible gun control while still preserving the ownership of guns. The key is to attach responsibility and there is a variety of ways that can be achieved. The NRA prefers to shout that any regulation will result in the total elimination of guns.

NRA is this BIG BAD thing.
What does the NRA really have to gain from it's all or nothing attitude? The problem starts with the fact that guns are clever and well made tools. Like many such tools they last for years and years with proper maintainence. The gun market is pretty much saturated, Most people that like guns already have a closet full and don't need to keep buying. That leaves ammo as the only sale item and ammo is a very competative business. If the NRA can keep lots of guns in illegal channels then they will get confiscated and destroyed and replaced. This keeps the NRA's principle backers, the gun manufacturers happy.

You really do believe the authorities of the NRA without critical insite since you have no idea who the proponents of gun control really are.
